April 2, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced today that the Boston Bruins have assigned defenseman Matt Lashoff to the P-Bruins after four games in the National Hockey League. With the move, the P-Bruins now have 23 players on their roster, including 12 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders.
Lashoff, 21, is in his third professional season and second full year, all in the Bruins' organization. The defenseman returns to Providence after appearing in four games with Boston since his fourth recall of the season on March 24. In the first of his four contests, Lashoff registered his first career NHL multiple-point effort with two assists against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The blue-liner now has one goal and four helpers in 18 Boston games this season, scoring his only career NHL goal on December 31, 2007 against the Atlanta Thrashers.
With Providence this season, the two-time PlanetUSA All-Star blue-liner has tallied eight goals, 27 assists and 35 points, along with a plus-10 rating, in 55 games. He appeared in his 100th professional game November 27, 2007 versus the Worcester Sharks. Prior to being drafted by Boston 22nd overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Lashoff spent three years in the Ontario Hockey League with the Kitchener Rangers.
Providence is back in action with three games next weekend, beginning Friday with Tuukka Rask Bobblehead Night as the P-Bruins host the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:05 p.m. The bobbleheads are courtesy of WEEI 103.7 FM, NBC 10, Getty and 2nd Time Around Sports.
