
Montreal Recalls Pair Of Forwards From Hamilton

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the Club has recalled forwards Matt D'Agostini and Greg Stewart from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. This is each player's first recall to the NHL and they will join the Canadiens at practice tomorrow morning at the Bell Centre.
D'Agostini, a 21-year-old native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, has appeared in 70 games with Hamilton this season, ranking second in goals (20), assists (27) and points (47) with a team-high 216 shots and 32 penalty minutes. In 133-career AHL games with the Bulldogs, the 6-foot, 195-pound right-winger has collected 96 points (41-55-96) and 65 penalty minutes.
Selected by the Canadiens in the 6th round, 190th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, D'Agostini has yet to play a regular season game in the National Hockey League.
Stewart, 21, leads the Bulldogs with 137 penalty minutes and has registered 10 goals, seven assists, and 17 points in 69 games in his rookie campaign during the 2007-2008 AHL season. The native of Kitchener, Ontario, played in 62 games in the ECHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones last season, posting 23 points (8-15-23) and 126 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-2, 201-pound left-winger was selected by Montreal in the 8th round, 246th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
The Bulldogs next game is on Friday, April 4th at 7:30 p.m. when they travel to the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland for a tilt with the Lake Erie Monsters.
