Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI - The American Hockey League announced today that Milwaukee Admirals defenseman Cody Franson has been named to the 2007-08 AHL All-Rookie Team, as voted by AHL players, coaches, and media in each of the league's 29 teams.

Franson leads AHL rookie defensemen in goals scored (11), assists (23), and points (34) in 69 games with the Admirals. His 23 assists are tied for the top spot among Milwaukee blueliners and his eight power-play tallies are second most on the entire team. The Sicamous, BC native has posted five multi-point games, including a two-goal effort February 5th at Manchester, and he has also tallied a pair of game-winning goals. During the month of February Franson averaged almost a point a game, recording 13 points (5g-8a) in 16 contests.

Nashville's third selection in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Franson has spent the previous four seasons playing for the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League where he helped to guide the team to a pair of WHL Championships and also the 2007 Memorial Cup, given to the top junior team in all of Canada. In the 2006-07 season, he led the WHL in defensemen scoring with 51 points and he also captured a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2007 World Junior Championships.

Franson, the player from the Western Conference selected to the team, is the first Admiral to accomplish the feat since Timofei Shishkanov garnered the honor in the 2003-04 season.

Joining Franson on the All-Rookie Team are forwards Bobby Ryan of the Portland Pirates, Teddy Purcell and Brian Boyle of the Manchester Monarchs, defenseman Alex Goligoski of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and goaltender John Curry, also from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The Admirals are on the road this week to take on the San Antonio Rampage in match ups that will likely influence playoff runs in the West Division. They return to the Bradley Center Saturday April 5th to face Houston once again. Fans can purchase tickets to any Admirals home game by calling the Admirals office at (414)227-0550 or by logging onto www.Ticketmaster.com.
