Worcester Sharks News Release
WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr announced that the Sharks will host "Bald is Beautiful" on Truck Day when the Sharks battle the Springfield Falcons at the DCU Center on Sunday, April 6th at 4:05pm. Worcester Sharks AHL Man of the Year Riley Armstrong will shave his head after the game during a post game on ice ceremony presented by Jeffrey Robert Salon & Spa of Worcester and donate his hair to the "Locks of Love" program.
Any follicular challenged Sharks fan will get a free ticket with a purchase of an adult ticket from a Sharks fan with hair. Sharks fans will have the opportunity to shave their head with Riley Armstrong with the assistance from Jeffrey Robert Salon & Spa of Worcester during a post game on ice ceremony to raise awareness for the "Locks of Love" program.
Armstrong, the winner of the Worcester Sharks AHL Man of the Year Award for the second straight season for his outstanding contributions to the Worcester community, has been growing out his curly hair since late October.
Before the game, there will be several large trucks on display on the DCU Center Plaza for families to explore with their children. A fire truck, a Waste Management dump truck, and other utility trucks will all be made available!
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers. For more information about the Locks of Love program log on to www.locksoflove.org.
The Sharks continue their four-game road swing with a Wednesday evening affair with the Springfield Falcons at 7pm before returning home to the DCU Center on Friday, April 4th for a 7:05pm battle with the Portland Pirates. After a Saturday road tilt in Manchester, Worcester returns home on Sunday for BALD IS BEAUTIFUL on Truck Day vs. the Springfield Falcons at 4:05pm.
For more information on these and other promotions, or to purchase tickets, call the Sharks offices at 508-929-0500 or check out the new www.sharksahl.com.
