Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the "AA" affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers, have announced today that the Flyers have re-assigned forward David Laliberte to Wheeling while the Penguins have assigned Ned Havern to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Laliberte began the year with the Philadelphia Phantoms and appeared in one game before being assigned to the Nailers for the start of the ECHL season. In seven games with the Nailers, the rookie compiled seven points (two goals and five assists) and 10 penalty minutes. He was assigned to the Phantoms on Nov. 9, appearing in one game the following night.

Before this season, Laliberte completed five seasons playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Prince Edward Island Rocket. Selected by the Flyers in the fourth round (124th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-1-inch, 198 pound winger recorded 50 goals and 48 assists for 98 points and 86 penalty minutes in 68 regular season games last season. His goal and point total led the Rocket and placed him fifth in the QMJHL in goals and tied for 11th in points. He also led the Rocket in power play goals (24), game-winning goals (7) and shots (298). His 50 goals and 98 points set new team records for most goals in a season and most points in a season.

Havern has been one of the key members of the Nailers offense in the early part of the season. He has recorded at least one point in eight out of the nine games this season. His six goals are second on the team and 11 points puts him third behind only his linemates (Sean Collins and Adam Henrich). This will be his first appearance in the AHL this season after spending seven games with the Providence Bruins last year.

Originally selected by the Dallas Stars in the ninth round (273rd overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Havern registered 40 points in 37 games for the Nailers in 2006-07. The third year pro played four years at Boston College recording 57 points(28g, 29a) in 151 games.

The Nailers take on the Cincinnati Cyclones tonight from US Bank Arena at 7:30p.m. The game is available on the Mix 97.3 FM and www.wheelingnailers.com. Tomorrow night the Nailers head down the road to take on the Dayton Bombers at 7:00p.m.
