Lynx acquire two D-Men

November 16, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release

Augusta Lynx Head Coach Bob Ferguson announced on Thursday that the Lynx have picked up two, new defenseman. First, the Lynx have completed a trade with the Phoenix Roadrunners of the ECHL. The Lynx sent goaltender Dave McKee to the Roadrunners in exchange for defenseman Nick Toneys and future considerations. "Obviously, when you are in a situation when you have more healthy goaltenders than defensemen, something needed to be done," said Ferguson. "Dave is a quality person and has a great future ahead of him, but I also believe that we are getting a very good, quality defenseman in Nick Toneys and defense is our most immediate need." Toneys, 24, comes to Augusta after appearing in five games for the Roadrunners this season with no points and seven penalty minutes. Toneys spent the 2006-07 season with the Kalamazoo Wings in the UHL, where he finished his first full professional season with 12 points in 60 games played. He also posted six assists in 20 post-season contests helping Kalamazoo advance to their second consecutive Colonial Cup Finals appearance. Second, the Lynx signed defenseman Tim Branham to a contract. Branham, 26, has experience in both the ECHL and AHL.
