Haley Sends Utah Back Home Winners, 6-5 in OT

Boise, Idaho - The Utah Grizzlies overcame a 2-0 deficit to the defending champion Steelheads Friday night, winning 6-5 in OT. It was their 3rd win in extra time over the Steelheads this season and 3rd win coming from two down to Idaho.

The Idaho Steelheads started off the high scoring first period with a shorthanded goal by Bombersack, followed by a power play goal by Desmit. Utah came right back with two goals just 41 seconds apart. First Christian Gaudet tipped home a Scott Ford shot to cut the deficit to one, Scott Burt was also credited with an assist. Then Rob Sirianni battled in front to tie the game at two, assists were credited to Jason Pitton and Gaudet. The Steelheads regained the lead when former grizzly Darrell Hay scored with one second left on a 5-on-3. The Grizzlies came right back when Gaudet scored his second of the game from Pitton to finish the opening period tied 3-3.

The Grizzlies scored the first goal of the second period, taking their first lead of the game when Keith Johnson scored on the power play knocking home a rebound off a shot by Olivier Labelle. Micheal Haley also received credit for an assist. The Grizz held the lead till 23 seconds left in the period when Galbraith tapped home a bank off the boards to tie the game at four.

The Grizz jumped out to a 5-4 for lead in the 3rd when Trevor Smith stole the puck shorthanded and beat Steve Silverthorn 5-hole. Idaho answered back with another 5-on-3 goal by Hay. Then game moved onto overtime where Haley scored from the top of the left wing circle to send Utah home with the victory.

Michael Mole stopped 22 of 27 shots.

The three-game series now reverts to the E-Center for a 7:05 p.m. face-off Saturday.
