Lynx topple Everblades to stay perfect at home
November 16, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
Led by goals from five different scorers, the Augusta Lynx stayed perfect at home this season with a 5-3 win over the Florida Everblades. #6 Will Bodine kicked off the scoring in the first period as he blasted home his first goal of the year on the power play with a shot from the point with helpers from #11 Matt Christie and #20 Matt Auffrey. However, the Everblades would strike right back and sneak two straight goals past goaltender #1 Nathan Marsters to take a 2-1 lead into the lockerroom. However, that would be all Marsters and the Lynx would allow as the blew up in the 2nd period for three goals. First, #19 Aaron Slattengren stole a bad pass at the Florida blueline and raced in alone beating Tyler Plante to the blocker side for his team-leading 6th goal of the year. The Lynx would take the lead thanks to a beautiful goal from #25 Adrian Veideman who was the recipient of some nice cycling by #23 John Laliberte and #9 Louis Goulet. The Lynx made it 4-2 on a 5 on 3 power play as Auffrey collected a back-door rebound and slammed it home with help from Christie and #12 Ryan Dingle. The 3rd period was all Lynx defense and Marsters as they continually shut the door on the Everblades. Goulet would score his first goal of the season, off a rebound from a drive from #3 Justin Coutu. A late 'Blades goal made it 5-3 with a minute remaining, but the damage had been done as the Lynx moved to an even 5-5-1 on the season.
