LAFC Acquires No. 1 Spot in Allocation Ranking from Nashville SC
February 26, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) announced today that the Club has acquired the No. 1 spot in the MLS Allocation Ranking from Nashville SC in exchange for a combined $350,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2020 and 2021, LAFC's natural second round selection in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, and the No. 24 spot in the Allocation Ranking.
The Allocation Process determines which MLS Club has first priority to acquire a player listed on the Allocation Ranking List. The list consists of select U.S. Men's National Team players, elite youth U.S. National Team players, and former MLS players returning to MLS after joining a non-MLS club for a transfer fee greater than $500,000.
The Allocation Ranking Order is set by taking the reverse order of the club's standings at the end of each MLS Season, taking playoff performance into account, with the new expansion clubs at the top of the order. The rankings reset at the end of each MLS League season.
LAFC returns to action on Thursday, February 27 as the Club hosts Club León in the second leg of the Round of 16 of the 2020 Concacaf Champions League at Banc of California Stadium (7:00 p.m. PT / FS1, TUDN). In order to advance to the quarterfinals, LAFC must win 2-0 to force penalty kicks or win by at least three goals, should León score a road goal.
