Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - The Charlotte Knights dropped game three of the six-game series against the Syracuse Mets by a score of 11-10 on Thursday night from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The Knights brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning with just one out and rallied against the Mets. Charlotte fought back to score three runs in the final frame and had a chance to come away with an impressive comeback win.

With two outs and runners on first and second base, Charlotte first baseman Craig Dedelow went down swinging for the third and final out of the game.

Still, Dedelow had a solid offensive game in just his second career appearance at the Triple-A level. Dedelow, who was promoted to Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham on Wednesday, launched a two-run home run in Charlotte's three-run sixth inning. He finished the night with three RBIs for the Knights.

In addition to the home run by Dedelow, the Knights also received home runs from right fielder Blake Rutherford and second baseman Zach Remillard. Rutherford hit the first home run in the game for the Knights, a solo shot in the second inning. Two batters later, Remillard launched his seventh home run of the season. The Knights combined to score 10 runs on 11 hits in the game three loss.

RHP Jason Bilous (0-1, 4.91) started for the Knights and was charged with the loss after he allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits over 4.1 innings pitched.

Syracuse batters combined to record 11 runs on 14 hits, including three home runs on the night. Former Knights slugger Daniel Palka hit his 21st home run of the season in the fifth inning. Two innings later, Mark Vientos hit his 21st home run of the season in the seventh frame. First baseman Dominic Smith continued his solid series at the plate. He went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs.

With the win, the Mets lead the overall series, two games to one.

The Knights will continue the six-game home series against the Syracuse Mets (Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets) from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte on Friday night. First pitch on Friday is set for 7:04 p.m. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time Knights broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and www.CharlotteKnights.com.
