Memphis Redbirds News Release
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - The Memphis Redbirds were shutout 1-0 for their fourth straight loss to the Gwinnett Stripers on Friday evening at Coolray Field. It marks the fifth time the offense has been shutout this season.
Gwinnett scratched across their lone run in the second inning. Hernan Perez led off the frame with a double, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on an Alex Dickerson ground ball to make it 1-0.
Memphis had a chance to tie the game in the sixth, putting runners at the corners to chase Ian Anderson out of the ballgame. Scott Hurst drew a walk to load the bases, but Thomas Burrows induced a groundball double play that ended the threat. The offense ended the night 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
Anderson (1-0) pitched 5.1 scoreless innings and allowed two hits while walking four and striking out seven. Jay Jackson (S, 1) closed out the ninth for the Stripers.

Johan Quezada rolled a pair of double plays in two innings of work. Zach Thompson pitched a scoreless seventh inning, while Ryan Loutos struck out the side in the eighth.
