
Kingfish Fall to Battle Creek in Series Opener

Battle Creek, Mich - The Kenosha Kingfish (12-11) fell to the Battle Creek Bombers (8-14) 4-2 at C.O. Brown Stadium on Wednesday, June 23rd.
Looking to snap their eight game skid, Battle Creek took the lead in the second inning off of a Harold Coll (San Jacinto) RBI single to go up 1-0.
In the fourth inning, Kenosha took the lead when Cam Redding (Saint Louis) singled to score Vince Bianchina (Northwestern). Later in the inning, Dustin Crenshaw (Grand Canyon) grounded out, but got the RBI, scoring Kirk Liebert (Kentucky) to put Kenosha up 2-1.
In the bottom half of the fourth inning, Battle Creek tied the game and in the fifth, Ed Johnson (Tennessee Tech) singled to score two runs to give Battle Creek the 4-2 lead for good.
On the mound, Kingfish starter Dalton Wiggins (Marietta) pitched two innings allowing one earned run before being removed due to the 35 pitch rule. Jared Thompson (Illinois-Springfield) pitched two innings of shutout ball. Harry Deliyannis (Pomona-Pitzer) took the loss. He threw two innings allowing two earned runs. Mitch Waletzki (Minnesota-Duluth) came on after, throwing two innings of shutout ball.
Kenosha will take on Battle Creek tomorrow, Thursday, June 24 in a double header. Game one is at 1:35 p.m EDT. Game two is at 6:35 p.m EDT.
