Bombers End Eight-Game Losing Streak with 4-2 Win over Kenosha

BATTLE CREEK, MI - The Battle Creek Bombers were finally able to end their long eight-game losing skid with their 4-2 win over the Kenosha Kingfish Wednesday night.

The Bombers were looking to get the bats going and did just that, recording eight hits on the game. Battle Creek's offense was led by Harold Coll and Aaron Beck who had two hits each.

The game was tied at two in the bottom of the fifth when Ed Johnson hit a single that scored two runs. The base hit by Johnson turned out to be the game-deciding hit as it made the score 4-2.

The Bombers got length out of their starter Tanner McNamara who went five innings giving up two runs on just three hits striking out one. Bomber starters had combined for just 2.2 innings in the two previous games due to injuries.

McNamara's biggest escape came in the top of the fifth with the game knotted at two. He recorded his only strikeout of the game, fanning Luke Stephenson to strand two runners on base.

The Bombers scored first in the game, the fourteenth time the Bombers scored first in a game this season. The run came in the second on an RBI single by Coll which was the first of his two run-scoring hits on the night.

The Kingfish scored two runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Cam Redding and a ground out by Dustin Crenshaw which scored a run to give Kenosha a 2-1 lead at the time. The Bombers would get a run back on an RBI double by Coll.

The Bombers bullpen shined to help the Bombers to victory. Newcomer Zach Williams pitched three scoreless innings striking out four giving up just one hit. Williams performance led to a 1-2-3 ninth by Will Christophersen who struck out two, including the Northwoods League leading hitter Kirk Liebert to end the game.

The Bomber pitchers limited the Kingfish, who lead the Northwoods League in batting average, to just four hits. Kenosha was led by Mitch Jebb who went 2-5.

The Bombers will continue their four-game series with Kenosha tomorrow with a double header. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. with the second game set for 7:35 p.m.
