Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds stayed unbeaten in 2026 with a 6-2 win over the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A, Baltimore Orioles) in game three of a six-game series on Thursday night at AutoZone Park.
Memphis first baseman Blaze Jordan tallied his first multi-homer game of 2026 in emphatic fashion. The right-handed slugger started the scoring with a solo bolt to lead off the second inning. Jordan later lasered a two-run shot in the seventh inning to double the lead. The Redbirds corner infielder is batting .500 with three home runs and six RBIs to start the season.
Center fielder Bryan Torres and right fielder Joshua Báez each posted a multi-hit effort. Torres finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Báez went 2-for-5 with an RBI double. All nine Memphis batters reached base safely in the win.
Starting pitcher Richard Fitts (1-0) allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out seven in 5.2 innings pitched. The right-handed pitcher's 10.0-inning scoreless streak to start the season was snapped with one out in the sixth. Skylar Hales and Scott Blewett combined to strike out four in 3.1 scoreless innings from the Redbird bullpen.
Neither team scored following a one-hour, five-minute rain delay with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park on Friday, April 3 to continue a six-game series against the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A, Baltimore Orioles) with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. CDT.
