IronPigs held to just four hits in loss to RailRiders

(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (43-52) return home from their lengthy 12-game road trip wasn't like they hoped as they lost 5-2 to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (56-37) on Tuesday night. The Pigs were held to just four hits.

Nick Maton recorded half those hits as he finished the night going 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and one run scored. Both of Lehigh Valley's runs were scored on a sacrifice fly hit by Mickey Moniak and C.J. Chatham.

Jose Alvarado started the game for Lehigh Valley and pitched just one inning - issuing a walk and recording a strikeout. Mark Appel (3-4) allowed thee runs through 2 1/3 innings as he gave up a two-run home run to Greg Allen and an RBI double to Max Burt.

Seranthony Dominguez made a rehab appearance as well for Lehigh Valley. He allowed one run in the top of the seventh inning on a wild pitch. He recorded three strikeouts in the inning. The fifth run of the game for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre came in the top of the ninth inning when Trey Amburgey hit a sacrifice fly to score Estevan Florial against Braeden Ogle.

Luis Gil (4-0) earned the win for the RailRiders while Sal Romano earned his second save of the season.

Lehigh Valley and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre play at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park.
