Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - A three-run sixth inning was enough for the Louisville Bats to defeat the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday night at Victory Field, 3-2.

After five scoreless innings, Louisville (39-57) took the lead it needed for the win. With two outs, Narciso Crook doubled to plate the first run of the frame. TJ Friedl then knocked two runs in with an RBI single to extend the lead, 3-0.

The Indians (45-51) put up both their runs in the eighth inning. With the bases loaded, two runs came in to score on a fielder's choice off the bat of Christian Bethancourt and a subsequent error.

All three Bats runs came off James Marvel (L, 4-6) in his fifth inning of work out of the bullpen. Sam Howard made the start in his third appearance of a major league rehab assignment and allowed one walk in one inning.

Marvel also recorded the lone Indians extra-base hit on the night with a double in the third inning, the first by an Indianapolis pitcher this season.

The Indians and Bats will face off again tomorrow afternoon at 1:35 PM ET. RHP Miguel Yajure (1-1, 3.43) will face off against Cincinnati's top prospect according to MLB Pipeline, RHP Hunter Greene (3-6, 4.18).
