Louisville Bats News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Michael Mariot authored 5.0 scoreless innings and TJ Friedl singled home a pair of runs to cap off a three-run sixth as the Louisville Bats outlasted the Indianapolis Indians 3-2 on Tuesday night at Victory Field.
Mariot retired the final six Indians batters he faced to close out his latest impressive road start. The right-hander fanned seven, walked one and surrendered three hits over five scoreless frames. He now owns a 1.10 ERA in his seven road starts with Louisville.
Following five scoreless frames from each team, Louisville broke into the scoring column with three runs in the top of the sixth. Alejo Lopez and Max Schrock led off the sequence with back-to-back base hits to put a Bats runner in scoring position for the first time of the night. Two batters later, Narciso Crook connected on his ninth double of the season to bring home the game's first run.
Friedl kept the rally going by bringing home the second and third runs of the sixth with a knock to right field that put Louisville ahead, 3-0.
The Indians threatened in the home half of the eighth, bringing home two runs on groundout and wild throw on an attempted double play. With the go-ahead run at the plate, the Bats' Ryan Hendrix settled in to record the final two outs of the frame and preserve a one-run lead.
Dauri Moreta pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to record his third straight save. Moreta has now tossed 16.2 relief innings without allowing an earned run since his Triple-A debut.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 1:35 p.m. ET. Louisville RHP Hunter Greene (3-6, 4.18) is set to take the mound at Victory Field against Indianapolis' RHP Miguel Yajure (1-1, 3.43).
