Durham Bulls News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Bulls third baseman Mike Brosseau bashed two home runs and drove in five runs, while designated hitter Dalton Kelly and second baseman Vidal Brujan combined for five hits and six runs batted in in Durham's 12-6 victory over the Charlotte Knights on Tuesday evening at Truist Field.

Brosseau's first blast, a three-run shot, punctuated a four-run opening frame after Kelly clubbed an RBI single. One inning later, Brujan's run-scoring double to center made it 5-0. RF Nathan Lukes' sacrifice fly in the third extended the advantage to six prior to the Knights' three-run bottom of the fourth.

Kelly and Brosseau would strike again, however, as the former smacked a two-run double before Brosseau went deep for the second time with a two-run blast to make it 10-3. Charlotte would narrow their deficit to five with a pair of tallies in the seventh before Brujan bashed his second double of the night, a two-run two-bagger in the eighth, to cap Durham's scoring.

Brosseau (3-5, 3 R, 3B, 2 HR, 5 RBI) and Kelly (3-5, 2 R, 2 2B, 3 RBI) led with three hits apiece, with Brujan (2-5, 2 2B, 3 RBI) and 1B Tristan Gray (2-4, 2 R, 2B) adding multi-hit efforts of their own. Brosseau has homered in three of his last four games with Durham dating back to August 19, totaling four longballs in that period.

Bulls starter Tommy Romero (5.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K) earned the victory after fanning seven over five innings, while Tampa Bay Rays relievers J.P. Feyereisen (1.1 IP, 2 H, R, ER) and Pete Fairbanks (1.0 IP, K) combined for 2.1 frames as part of their Major League Rehab Assignments. Charlotte righty Kade McClure (4.0 IP, 6 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) suffered the defeat.

The two teams are set to face off again on Wednesday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 7:04pm. RHP Brent Honeywell Jr. (2-2, 3.83) is slated to get the nod for Durham, while RHP John Parke (1-1, 4.42) is expected to start for Charlotte.

Durham returns home on Tuesday, September 7 for their penultimate homestand of the year, facing off against the Norfolk Tides for seven tilts. Start time for that series' opener is set for 6:35pm. Tickets for that game, as well as all remaining Bulls home games are available and can be purchased at DurhamBulls.com.
