Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

Last Weeks Highlights:

12/2/05 > Long Beach 0 vs. Alaska 5

The Ice Dogs were shutout for the second time this season at home Friday night, this time to the Alaska Aces. It was the first time the two teams had met since Alaska swept Long Beach in the second round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs last April. Ryan Gaucher scored the game winner, while Justin Moiser, Mike Scott, Barrett Heisten, and Cam Keith also scored. Matt Underhill got the shutout for the Aces making 25 saves, while Greg Hewitt took the loss, also making 25 saves.

12/3/05 > Long Beach 2 vs. Alaska 5

Trying to get revenge from the night before, the Ice Dogs again fell short to the Alaska Aces. The game was scoreless after one period, before Alaska opened fire scoring four goals in a span of 5:52 to take a commanding 4-0 lead heading in to the final period. Chris Kenady and Mac Faulkner both scored less than a minute apart in the third to make it a 4-2 game, but any hopes of a comeback were done once the Aces scored with less than 3 minutes remaining in the game. Chris Beckford-Tseu got the win with 27 saves, while Greg Hewitt took the loss with 31 saves.

12/4/05 > Long Beach 1 vs. Phoenix 2

The Ice Dogs lost their third straight game Sunday night, but it was their first loss of the season to the Phoenix Roadrunners. Mac Faulkner managed the only goal for Long Beach, shorthanded at 11:53 of the third period. Mike Mole was nearly unstoppable in goal for Phoenix, making 47 saves for the win. Greg Hewitt had 20 saves in the loss.
