Gladiators Weekly Update
December 5, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
To the AHL! Left wing Chris Durno was called up the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League on Friday. For the Scarborough, Ontario native, it is the first time he has been called up to the AHL. Durno was even for the Admirals in Friday's 3-1 win over Chicago and finished the weekend scoreless in three AHL games.
A First! Defenseman Jim Sharrow posted his first professional goal in the Gladiators 5-2 loss at Florida on Saturday night. Down 5-1, Sharrow cut into the Everblades lead with 8 minutes left in the final period. Sharrow now has a goal and an assist for 2 points on the season for the Gladiators.
A Season High: Despite dropping a 5-2 decision on Saturday night, Gladiators netminder Sean Fields made a season high 41 saves for the Gladiators in the loss. Fields previous season high for saves in a game was 40 set back on November 12th in a 3-1 win over the Florida Everblades. Fields' ECHL career high for saves in a game is 42 posted in a 4-2 win at Louisiana on December 14, 2004.
Four In a Row! Right wing Scott Kelman added an assist in the Gladiators 5-2 loss to the Florida Everblades on Saturday night and had a helper in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Everblades. With the assists, Kelman has now picked up at least one assist in each of the past four games for the Gladiators. His four game assists streak is currently the longest on the Gladiators. Jeff Campbell holds the Gladiators season assist record at 7 consecutive games.
Make that 2 with Four in a Row! Left wing Guillaume Desbiens posted his 5th goal of the season in Satuday's 5-2 loss to the Everblades and has now posted at least one point in each of the Gladiators last four games. For Desbiens, it is his longest point-scoring streak of his career. Chris Durno holds the Gladiators team record for this season for most consecutive games with at least one point at 9 consecutive games.
From Dayton! The Gladiators acquired netminder Chad Collins in a trade with the Dayton Bombers last week. Collins appeared in his first game with the Gladiators coming on in relief of Sean Fields at the beginning of the third period in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Everblades. Collins stopped all 7 shots he faced in the final period and didn't record a decision in the game.

Florida regained the 2 goal lead but Pascal Pelletier, on a one man effort, scored 7 seconds after the Florida goal to make it 4-3. Jeff Campbell beat the Florida netminder to tie the game at 4-4 but the Everblades scored twice before the end of the period, the first goal at the 19:56 mark, for the win.
