SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls have acquired rookie defenseman Evan Shaw from the Columbia Inferno, head coach Martin St. Amour announced on Monday. Shaw will be available to play Friday against the Phoenix Roadrunners.

The 21-year-old Shaw notched two points (1g, 1a) and 12 penalty minutes in 19 games this season for Columbia. The Inferno acquired Shaw prior to the beginning of the season from the Charlotte Checkers.

The 6-foot-2-inch, 210-pound native of Narragansett, R.I., previously spent three seasons with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
