Titans finish long weekend with two wins
December 5, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans used two victories during a three-game, three-day weekend at Sovereign Bank Arena to lift themselves into third place in the North Division.
The weekend did not start the way the Titans hoped Friday night against the Charlotte Checkers. Trenton allowed a season-high four goals in the second period as the Checkers skated away with the 5-3 win.
The Titans got back into the win column the next night against the Dayton Bombers when Scott Bertoli and Chris Pittman each put the puck into the net and Dustin Traylen stopped 33 of 34 to down the Bombers 2-1.
In the rematch on Sunday, Trenton and Dayton would need overtime to decide the contest. The Titans' top line of Bertoli, Pittman and Mathieu Brunelle combined for 7 points (3g, 4a) as Brunelle tallied the game-winner in the extra session to seal the 4-3 victory.
The Titans have raised their record at 10-7-2 and they finish their four-game home stand against the Long Beach Ice Dogs on Wednesday, December 7.
Trenton then heads south to face the Gwinnett Gladiators on Friday, December 9 and the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday, December 10.
