Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs are joining forces with the Saddleback Valley Educational Foundation (SVEF) to raise money to restore the 3rd grade classrooms previous size (20 to 1 student/teacher ratio) at the 26 elementary schools in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District next year. Proceeds from Ice Dogs tickets sold for the games on March 20 and 21 by the reduction committee will go towards the $650,000 needed by June 1.

With the necessary funds raised, students win by getting a better education, neighborhoods benefit when their schools perform to state standards, thus maintaining the value of properties within the neighborhoods. The goal is for each student entering the 3rd grade to raise an average of $250. The partnership with the Ice Dogs could be the largest fundraising program for the SVEF, potentially raising more than $100,000.

"We're very excited about this partnership with the Ice Dogs", said Don Romoser, SVEF organizer. "This will be a fun family night that will help grow our efforts for the kids."

Fliers will be distributed to the teachers at each school in the district with an order form to be filled out by the students. Ticket prices are $17, with nearly half of the proceeds of each sale going to the SVEF. Game times are 7 p.m. March 20 and 5 p.m. March 21.
