
Rivermen Sign Rookie Left Wing Garett Cameron

Peoria, Ill. (March 5, 2004) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that rookie left wing Garett Cameron has been signed and added to the roster. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Cameron â a 5-foot-9, 165-pound native of Grandora, Saskatchewan â led the Tier II Junior "A" Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) in goals (53) and points (106) in 2002-2003 with the Melfort Mustangs. The 21-year-old earned the SJHL's E.E. Henning Memorial Trophy (Most Valuable Player) and the Leo Parker Award (Top Scorer) for his efforts; he was also named Team Regular Season and Playoff MVP. He also tied for runner-up for the Canadian Junior "A" Hockey League (CJAHL) MVP with Cory Roberts of the Charlottown Abbies of the Maritime Junior "A" Hockey League (MarJHL).
Cameron is Melfort's all-time leader in career goals (121) and power play goals (47). He ranks second all-time in career points (250).
The Rivermen host the archrival Toledo Storm on Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6. Game times are 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. On Friday, it is another Coca-Cola Finally Friday. Fans receive a 2-for-1 Upper Bowl admission when they present a Cherry Coke or Vanilla Coke can at the Carver Arena Box Office. On Saturday, Christian Rock Group "Jars of Clay" performs in a post-game concert, courtesy of the Berean Bookstore. The first 5,000 fans also receive a Rivermen Team Photo, courtesy of Mac's and Big Foot Convenience Stores. On Sunday, March 7, the Rivermen face off against the Trenton Titans in the first of two in a row between the clubs. Game time is 3:00 p.m. It is another Journal Star/Insight Media Family Day. Kids 12 and Under receive a $2 Upper Bowl admission. Kids Meals are available for $2.50 each and the first 1,000 include a Randy Rowe player card. Scooby Doo & Shaggy will appear courtesy of the Cartoon Network.
