
Blades Drop 3-1 Decision in Mississippi

BILOXI, MS - The Florida Everblades (30-22-10) were defeated by the Mississippi Sea Wolves (35-18-6) 3-1 in front of 4,569 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Friday night. Mississippi forwards Steffon Walby and Louis Dumont each notched a goal and an assist in the Sea Wolves victory. The Everblades remained in sole possession of second place in the Southern Division despite the loss.
In the first period, the Seawolves grabbed a 1-0 lead when Louis Goulet tucked a Steffon Walby pass past Florida netminder Rob Zepp at the 15:54 mark of the period. Mississippi took advantage of a Florida turnover and former Blade forward Anthony Battaglia slipped a backhand shot into the net at the 16:16 of the period.
In the second period, Florida got on the board after forward John McNabb tipped in a Matt Pagnutti point shot at the 1:07 mark of the period. Defenseman Mark White picked up the other assist on McNabb's 26th goal of the season.
In the third period, the Sea Wolves closed out the scoring after forward Louis Dumont took advantage of another Blades turnover and passed the puck across to Mississippi captain Steffon Walby who fired it into the top corner to make it 3-1.
Florida goaltender Rob Zepp (14-12-7) stopped 31 of 34 shots he faced while Mississippi netminder Greg Gardner (23-12-3) stopped 29 of 30 shots he faced. The Everblades were 0 for 1 on the power play while the Sea Wolves were 0 for 3.
The Blades take on the Sea Wolves in game two of the series on Saturday night at 8:35 PM. Florida returns home to host the Greenville Grrrowl in a pair of games on Friday, March 12th and Saturday, March 13th at 7:30 PM.
