Ice Dogs Sign Free Agent Forward from WHA2

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Ice Dogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Kevin Kaminski, announced today the team has signed free agent forward Darcy Johnson from the defunct Miami Manatees of the WHA2. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Johnson, a 5'11", 200 pound forward from Yorkton, Saskatchewan, played 41 games for Miami, scoring 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points and 143 penalty minutes. In the 2001-02 season he played 66 games for the Colorado Gold Kings of the WCHL with current Ice Dogs player, Craig Lyons. "Darcy is tough as nails and brings a good work ethic", said Kaminski. "He has very good skill to go with his toughness."

Johnson will join the team for their game in Bakersfield on Sunday. The team will be embarking on a four game road trip that will conclude with three games in Idaho. Long Beach is currently in 6th place in the Pacific Division with 44 points.
