Rivermen Acquire Defenseman Csumrik from Alaska

Peoria, Ill. (March 4, 2004) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that third-year defenseman Dave Csumrik has been acquired from the Alaska Aces as the future considerations to complete the trade for Bret DeCecco and Malcolm Hutt on March 3.

Csumrik – a 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of Orillia, Ontario – registered 26 points (9g, 17a) and 116 penalty minutes (PIM) in 51 games with Alaska to open the 2003-2004 season. The 23-year-old played for the Aces last season when they competed in the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL); he collected 24 points (4g, 20a) and 185 PIM in 46 contests. He opened his professional career in 2001-2002 with the Fort Worth Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL), posting 28 points (5g, 23a) and 102 PIM in 64 games.

The Rivermen host the archrival Toledo Storm on Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6. Game times are 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. On Friday, it is another Coca-Cola Finally Friday. Fans receive a 2-for-1 Upper Bowl admission when they present a Cherry Coke or Vanilla Coke can at the Carver Arena Box Office. On Saturday, Christian Rock Group "Jars of Clay" performs in a post-game concert, courtesy of the Berean Bookstore. The first 5,000 fans also receive a Rivermen Team Photo, courtesy of Mac's and Big Foot Convenience Stores. On Sunday, March 7, the Rivermen face off against the Trenton Titans in the first of two in a row between the clubs. Game time is 3:00 p.m. It is another Journal Star/Insight Media Family Day. Kids 12 and Under receive a $2 Upper Bowl admission. Kids Meals are available for $2.50 each and the first 1,000 include a Randy Rowe player card. Scooby Doo & Shaggy will appear courtesy of the Cartoon Network.
