LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs (8-9-2) failed to get revenge against the Alaska Aces (13-3-2), who again defeated them on home ice, this time by a score of 5-2. With San Diego's win tonight, they move ahead of Long Beach in the standings.

After a scoreless first period, Cam Keith got Alaska on the board at 7:56 of the second from Barrett Heisten and Olivier Filion. Just 1:10 later, Patrick Weller put it in from Justin Maiser. The Aces continued a second period onslaught with a goal by Alex Leavitt on the power play from Chris Minard and Ryan Gaucher at 11:14. Alaska scored their fourth goal in 5:52 when Minard scored shorthanded from Mike Scott to make it 4-0.

The Ice Dogs finally got on the board in the third period when Chris Kenady scored on the power play from Steeve Villeneuve and Ash Goldie at 9:38. Long Beach appeared to be making a comeback when Mac Faulkner scored less than a minute later from Derick Martin and Kevin Ulanski to make it a 4-2 game, but the crowd of 2,587 was hushed when Peter Metcalf scored a power play goal at 17:12 from Heisten and Gaucher to end the Ice Dogs chances.

Greg Hewitt took the loss in goal for Long Beach, making 31 saves. Chris Beckford-Tseu earned the win for Alaska, making 27 saves. The Aces were 2-7 on the power play while the Ice Dogs went 1-7.
