San Diego And Johnstown Meet For The First Time At The ipayOne Center

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls look to stretch their unbeaten streak to four games when they host the Johnstown Chiefs for the first time at the ipayOne Center.

SERIES HISTORY: This is the second all-time meeting between the Pacific Division Gulls and North Division Chiefs and first-ever at the ipayOne Center. The two teams met for the first time last season, with San Diego pulling out a 3-2 shootout victory. The two teams will meet again tomorrow, with game-time scheduled for 5:05 p.m.

2004-05 HEAD-TO-HEAD SERIES: 2/5/05 San Diego 3 @ Johnstown 2 (shootout)

VS. AMERICAN CONFERENCE: The Gulls are 9-9-7 (5-5-2 at home) all-time against teams in the American Conference, dating back to 2003-04... The only teams San Diego has yet to face since joining the ECHL are the Augusta Lynx, Columbia Inferno, Greenville Grrrowl, Reading Royals and Toledo Storm...

LAST GAME (NOV. 27 VS. FRESNO): Luke Curtin scored two late goals, including the game-winner 3:08 into overtime, as the Falcons snuck past the Gulls 4-3 on Sunday night. San Diego led 2-1 entering the third period and then 3-2 late in the game but couldn't hold either advantage. Curtin sent the match into OT on a score with 4:05 remaining in regulation and then won it with a wrist shot from the right wing circle that beat Tyler Weiman. Richard Keyes finished with three points (1g, 2a), while Steve Hildenbrand added two assists for the Gulls.

GULLS UPDATE: San Diego (7-7-3) enters the day third in the Pacific Division with 17 points, five behind the first-place Fresno Falcons and one back of the second-place Long Beach Ice Dogs... The Gulls are one point ahead of the fourth-place Bakersfield Condors... San Diego is unbeaten in its last three games (2-0-1) and nine of its last 11 games (6-2-3)... In those 11 games, six have been decided by one goal and four have been decided by two goals... Tonight is the fifth of a season-long seven-game homestand... San Diego is 4-1-2 at home this season...

OTHER NOTES: Keyes has six points (2g, 4a) in his last three games... Hildenbrand has 11 points (3g, 8a) in his last seven games... Newcomer Alex Kim has five points (2g, 3a) in his first four games with the Gulls... San Diego has killed 49 of its last 52 penalties and has scored 18 power-play goals in the last 11 games... Guillaume Fournier has scored a point in nine of the last 11 games... The "French Fries" line of Fournier, Pierre-Luc Sleigher and Martin Mandeville were held off the scoresheet Sunday, the first time since Nov. 2 in Long Beach (11 games)... The trio combined for 26 points (11g, 15a) in the previous 10 games...

JOHNSTOWN UPDATE: Johnstown (5-7-6) starts the day fifth in the North Division with 16 points, nine behind the division lead and one ahead of the last-place Dayton Bombers... The Chiefs are in the midst of a seven-game road trip, six of which are against Pacific Division teams... Johnstown is 2-0-2 so far on the trek that concludes Tuesday in Las Vegas (all four games have gone into overtime)... Justin Kelly leads the team with 15 points (8g, 7a)... Goaltenders Morgan Cey (2.27) and Jonathan Boutin (2.38) rank sixth and 10th respectively in the ECHL in goals-against average...

TRANSACTIONS: Right Winger Dan DaSilva was recalled to the American Hockey League's Lowell Lock Monsters Monday. He had eight points (5g, 3a) in four games last week with San Diego... Defenseman Andy Thompson (wrist) was placed on the seven-day injured list Monday... Defenseman Doug MacIver, recovering from a knee injury, remains out of the lineup... Forward Frantisek Skladany and defenseman Tomas Slovak both remain with Lowell...
