Ice Pilots Win 5-2 vs Bakersfield

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots won back to back games for the first time this season defeating the Bakersfield Condors 5-2 on Friday night at the Pensacola Civic Center.

The Ice Pilots took a 1-0 lead on a tip in goal by Brendan Cook scoring 1:52 into the first period. Cook redirected the shot sent by Luke Fulghum from inside the blue line. Adam Courchaine gave the Ice Pilots a 2-0 lead in the first period at the 11:34 mark beating Bakersfield goalie Ryan Cyr on the blocker side.

Luke Fulghum would give the Ice Pilots a 3-0 lead on a tip in goal from a pass from the near boards from Brendan Cook at the 2:12 mark of the second period. Regan Leslie would score for Bakersfield in the third period on the power play at the 8:35 mark of the third period to make it a 3-1 contest.

Bakersfield would get a goal by Alexandre Bolduc at the 12:54 mark to make it a 3-2 contest. Brain Collins would score at the 15:42 mark of the third on an odd man rush as Collins wristed a shot by goalie Ryan Cyr to give the Ice Pilots a 4-2 lead. Adam Courchaine would score an empty net goal with three seconds left to give the Ice Pilots a 5-2 lead.

The Ice Pilots had 37 shots on goal, 10 penalty minutes and went 1-6 on the power play. Bakersfield had 47 shots on goal, 22 penalty minutes and went 1-5 on the power play. Frederic Cloutier was the winning goalie and Ryan Cyr took the loss in goal for Bakersfield.

The Ice Pilots improve their record to 7-8-2 for 16 points and Bakersfield dropped their record to 6-6-4 for 16 points.

The Ice Pilots will play Bakersfield at home again on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. It is game number two of the Triple Play Jackpot Weekend. The first 500 fans will receive mouse pads. Chris Heid and Adam Courchaine will sign autographs after the game.

The Ice Pilots will also play Bakersfield again on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. It is "Teddy Bear Toss" nig ht. Fans are asked to bring a stuffed animal Teddy Bear to the game on Sunday. When the Ice Pilots score their first goal of the game on Sunday, fans are asked to throw the Teddy Bears onto the ice.
