Defending Champs Hang On To Beat Bombers In Jersey

Trenton, NJ - In a game that took just under 2 hours and 10 minutes to play, the Dayton Bombers dropped a 2-1 decision to the defending Kelly Cup Champion Trenton Titans in front of 3,821 at the Sovereign Bank Arena Saturday night.

Following a scoreless first period, Scott Bertoli notched a powerplay goal at 4:06 of the second period giving the Titans a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes.

Early in the third period, Tim Konsorada found Jeff Szwez who tied the game, 1-1, just 56 seconds into the final frame. But Chris Pitman scored the game-winner at 12:41, and the Titans survived a late Dayton powerplay opportunity to post the 2-1 win.

Dayton outshot Trenton, 34-32. The same two teams will meet in New Jersey tomorrow (Sunday) at 3:00 PM.

The Dayton Bombers, proud "AA" affiliate of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets, are celebrating their 15th Anniversary this season.
