Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Florida Everblades scored three times in the third period en-route to a 5-2 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators on Saturday night at the Germain Arena in Estero, Florida. The Gladiators and Everblades skated to a scoreless first period as Florida outshot Gwinnett in the opening stanza by a 14-12 margin. Florida broke the scoreless tie 6:31 into the second period as Paul Cabana ripped a snapshot past Gladiators netminder Sean Fields from the left wing circle. Dustin Johner picked up an assist on the goal for the Everblades. Guillaume Desbiens answered for the Gladiators 30 seconds later to tie the game at a goal apiece. Desbien posted his 5th goal of the season taking a pass in the slot from Brad Schell and beating Everblades netminder Phil Osaer for the goal at 7:01 of the second period. Bogdan Rudenko got the Everblades back on top 15:24 into the second period beating Fields on a 2-on-1 break as he slipped past a diving Gladiators defenseman leaving the forward untouched in the slot for a point black shot. Chris Lee hooked up with John Ronan to pick up the assists as they helped set up the Everblades tally. Florida extended their lead to 3-1 early in the third period as Rudenko posted his second goal of the game beating Fields on an odd man rush. Dustin Johner and Ryan Brindley added the assists on the goal at 4:37 of the third period. Chris Lee gave the Everblades a 4-1 lead finding a loose puck in the slot and jamming it past Fields for the tally. Kevin Estrada picked up the assist on the tally at 10:09 of the third period. After Jeff Campbell was called for unsportsman like conduct for diving, Gladiators head coach Jeff Pyle was given a game misconduct for expressing his opinion on the bench to referee Dean Sandborn. John Lehun gave the Everblades a 5-1 lead on the ensuing power play at the 11:54 mark of the third period beating Fields on the off wing on the man advantage. John Ronan added an assist on the tally. Jeff Sharrow scored his first goal of the season for the Gladiators at the 12:16 mark of the third period to cut into the Florida lead but the Gladiators could get no closer than 5-2. Lane Manson and Scott Kelman added the assists on the goal. Sean Fields made a season high 41 saves in the loss for the Gladiators as Gwinnett went scoreless on four power play chances.
