TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Mud Hens were defeated by the Columbus Clippers 11-1 on Monday night at Fifth Third Field.

The Mud Hens (46-36) were held to two hits in the loss to the Clippers (43-39) which is the fewest of the campaign. Jacob Robson ended 1-for-3 at the plate with a double, stolen base, run scored and a walk for Toledo. Dawel Lugo recorded the Hens only RBI by knocking in Robson in the first inning.

The Columbus Clippers struck first when Greg Allen scored on a wild pitch. In the bottom half of the inning, Robson drew a walk and then stole second base. With one out, Lugo singled to right field to score Robson and tie the game.

In the second inning, the Clippers used three hits to score two runs as Allen sent a single to center to score Drew Maggi and Eric Haase. Toledo did not answer back, and Columbus took a 3-1 advantage into the third.

Nellie Rodriguez hit a three-run home run to give the Clippers a 6-1 advantage in the top of the third inning.

Jacob Turner got the start for the Hens and allowed six earned runs on six hits in three innings of work. Turner struck out three and walked four. Kevin Comer came in to pitch in the fourth inning for Toledo.

In the top of the fifth, Columbus struck again in courtesy of back-to-back doubles by Maggi and Haase. They added another run on a single by Yandy Diaz. Paul Voelker entered the game to replace Comer with one out and the bases loaded. Comer went one and one third innings allowing two earned runs on three hits while walking two and striking out two. After four and one-half innings, the Clippers led 8-1.

Voelker's night ended after the sixth inning as Drew VerHagen came in to pitch. Voelker delivered one and two thirds scoreless and hitless innings.

Columbus loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth inning due to a walk and two errors by the third baseman Harold Castro. VerHagen then struck out Eric Haase to end his outing. In one and one third innings, VerHagen allowed one hit and two walks while striking out three. Hunter Cervenka came on in relief for the final two outs of the eighth inning and struck out two batters to escape without a blemish.

A single by Fransisco Mejia and a two run home run by Adam Rosales gave the Clippers added three runs in the top of the ninth inning. Junichi Tazawa pitched the ninth inning for Toledo allowing three runs on four hits while walking none and striking out two.
