Hens Notes

Seven run first highlights slow week: In Friday's 8-4 win over Louisville, the Mud Hens started fast scoring seven runs in the first inning to cruise to the victory. The other win of the week came the day before when Mikie Mahtook, Mike Gerber and Jared Saltalamacchia all homered in a 3-2 win over the Bats. A late inning grand slam doomed Toledo to week ending 9-6 loss on Sunday.

Rodriguez hits and hits: Ronny Rodriguez had a monster week with 13 hits over 29 at bats (.448 batting average) lifting his season average to an International League best .335. In Sunday's 9-6 loss, Rodriguez picked up his fifth triple of the season, which ties him for the most in the IL.

Powerful hitting: Toledo has brought the thunder from their bats this season, hitting 80 home runs to date. That is just one off of the league lead held by Scranton, who has left the ballpark with 81 homers this year. Christin Stewart paces all IL players with 15 round-trippers.

All-Stars: The Mud Hens have four players heading to the All-Star game this season as Ronny Rodriguez, Jim Adduci, Christin Stewart and Chad Huffman were all selected to be part of the festivities on Wednesday, July 11.

Holding First: Toledo has been in first place in the IL West every day this season. The Mud Hens finished April with a 15-7 record, following that up with an 18-12 mark in May. June finished with a below .500 month (13-15) for the first time this season, although the team posted a 7-6 record on the road during June. The Hens have an overall road record of 22-16.

Into the All-Star break: Toledo starts a two game home set with Columbus Monday night before the Hens hit the road for the remainder of the week leading into the 2018 All-Star Break. Toledo has done well against Columbus, sporting a 6-2 mark against its Ohio rivals, including a perfect 4-0 mark at home. After a pair of games in Columbus, Toledo heads to Louisville for the weekend and are 9-7 vs. the Bats on the year.

ALL-AMERICAN SALUTE - JULY 3

The Hens are throwing a Rock 'N' Blast Backyard BBQ and fireworks show to wrap up the homestand on July 3 and to celebrate Independence Day!

The Backyard BBQ includes your Mud Hens game ticket, an all-you-can-eat buffet, Rock 'N' Blast Fireworks Show, and Hensville Live! postgame concert.

Stay in your seats after the game for an All-American salute to our nation with the Mud Hens' largest fireworks show of the season -- Rock 'N' Blast - a spectacular 20-minute show synced to music, with fireworks shooting off from more than 10 locations around Fifth Third Field.

The fun continues in a Hensville Park with Hensville Live! postgame concert, featuring Amelia Airharts, presented by NSG.
