Colorado Eagles News Release

(Anchorage, AK) - Alaska Aces goaltender Lukas Hafner turned aside all 34 shots he faced en route to his first professional shutout in Alaska's 2-0 victory over Colorado on Friday. The loss also puts the brakes on the Eagles seven-game winning streak, falling just one win short of a new season-high.

After a scoreless first period, Aces defenseman Felix-Antoine Poulin would put Alaska on the board first with a wrist shot from the top of the left circle that beat Eagles goaltender Clarke Saunders and gave the Aces the 1-0 lead with 8:58 remaining in the second period.

Alaska carried the 1-0 advantage into the third period of action with Hafner continuing to deny Colorado on 12 shots in the final frame. The Aces would add an insurance goal off the tape of forward Peter Sivak, who finished off a 3-on-1 rush down the ice with a wrister from the slot to make it 2-0 Alaska at the 11:31 mark of the third period.

The Eagles would pull Saunders in favor of the extra attacker, but would not find the back of the net, falling by a final score of 2-0.

Colorado concludes its three-game series against the Alaska Aces, as well as the 72-game regular season on Saturday, April 9th at 9:15pm MST at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage. The Eagles need a win Saturday night, coupled with an Idaho loss in regulation to claim their first ever division title since joining the ECHL in 2011.

The Colorado Eagles clinched a spot in the 2016 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs. Tickets go on sale Monday, April 11th at 10am. Order yours by visiting the Budweiser Events Center Box Office, calling the Colorado Eagles Office at 970-688-SHOT or by clicking www.comcasttix.com.
