Final Regular Season Home Game Is Tonight, as the Playoffs Open Thursday
April 9, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans play their final regular season home game tonight against the Evansville IceMen at Allen Event Center, at 7:05 PM, wrapping up the regular season, and Fan Appreciation Week.
Allen lost a heartbreaker to Evansville last night, 3-2 at the Event Center. The Americans blew a 2-0 first period lead, as they were unable to find the back of the net after that opening frame.
"This has happened a few too many times this season," said Americans Co-Captain Chad Costello. "We got off to a fast start, dominating that opening period and then let them off the hook. I'm excited we were able to lock up home-ice for the first round of the playoffs, but disappointed we couldn't take care of business on our own."
The Americans earned home-ice for Round 1 of the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs, by way of an Alaska 2-0 shutout victory over Colorado on Friday night. The Eagles have 84 points, so the most they can get is 86 with a win tonight. Allen already has 87. Colorado can still win their division with a win tonight in Alaska, and a Missouri regulation win over Idaho, so the Americans first round opponent is still to be determined.
The ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs will open up next Thursday night, April 14th at 7:05 PM at Allen Event Center, with Game 2 on Saturday, April 16th at 7:05 PM. Tickets for Round 1 of the playoffs are on sale NOW at Allen Event Center Box Office, or www.ticketmaster.com. Call 972-912-1000 for more information.
