Grizzlies Re-Call Mike Smith

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH - Utah Grizzlies' Head Coach Don Hay announced today that the team has re-called goaltender Mike Smith from the Lexington Men-O-War and have assigned forward Brett Draney to Lexington, the Grizzlies East Coast Hockey League affiliate.

Smith, 20 has played in eight games with Lexington so far this season going 2-4-2 (shootout losses). The Kingston, Ontario native has a 2.57 goals against average and a .913 save percentage with one shutout. The 6-3, 189-pouind netminder made ESPN's NHL Tonight earlier this year when he made 21 saves recording his first shutout and scored a goal into an empty net versus Dayton on October 26, 2002. Smith was originally a fifth round draft selection of the Dallas Stars in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Draney, 21, has played in seven games for the Grizzlies this year recording an assist and five penalty minutes. Last season, Draney played for Utah late in the year suiting up for six games scoring three points (1-2-3). The Merritt, British Columbia native was originally a sixth round draft selection of the Dallas Stars in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

The Grizzlies host the Chicago Wolves tonight at the E-Center. Face-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
