TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The second of eight meetings and the first of four here. Richmond beat the Royals 6-5 in a shootout on 11/3. Nick Lent scored two goals. Marc Magliarditi stopped all five Royals in the shootout. Ex-‘Gade Brian McCullough had three points. The ‘Gades are in a second place tie with Greensboro in the Northeast Division with 18 points three behind first place Atlantic City. The Royals are fourth with 17. Six clubs are separated by five points in the Northeast.

LAST ACTION: The ‘Gades won 8-1 over Roanoke here last night. Richmond jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead and blew the game open with five second period goals. Brad Church, Richard Pitirri, and Jamie Herrington each scored two goals. Dan Lombard stopped 19 of 20 shots. The ‘Gades out-shot the Express 41-20. Reading lost 7-6 at home to Atlantic City. The Royals trailed 7-3 after two periods but scored three times in the third. Reading was 4-9 on the power play; Atlantic City was 3-8. Six different Royals scored.

‘GADES NOTES: Richmond has won three straight and eight of their last 10 games after a 1-5 start. The ‘Gades eight goals last night is the most scored by Richmond in a game since a nine goal uprising against Greesnboro on January 13, 2001. The seven goal margin of victory was the largest for the ‘Gades since December 15, 1999 when the ‘Gades beat the Generals 9-1. The ‘Gades 41 shots last night is a season high as well as the 21 shot margin of difference. The ‘Gades are 5-0 in overtime/shootouts. Nick Lent has points in six straight games. Lars Pettersen has points in four straight games. Marc Magliarditi now has 116 career wins and is sixth in ECHL history. Dan Lombard has won four straight starts and started three straight games. He has allowed five goals over those three starts. The ‘Gades are 3-0 on a four game homestand. They are in a stretch of 10 of 12 games at home. Seven players on the 'Gades roster were not in the opening night lineup. The ‘Gades have nine former NHL draft picks on the club. Richmond has eight rookies on the club. The ‘Gades are in a stretch of five straight games against Northeast Division opponents. The ‘Gades are 24 for their last 25 on the penalty kill and have four power play goals and two shorthanded goals in their last three games. Richmond is now fourth in the ECHL in penalty killing (86.2%). Milt Mastad was placed on 7-Day IR 11/13 with a hand injury. The ‘Gades play three games in three nights this weekend. Dan Lombard is now third in the ECHL in goals against average.

ROYALS NOTES: Ex-‘Gade Brian McCullough is tied for the league lead in goals with 12 and is second in the ECHL with 24 points. Brad Rooney is tied for ninth in scoring with 20 points. Reading is fourth in the ECHL in scoring (3.7 goals per game). The Royals have the ECHL's number one power play (26%). Reading was 1-2-1 here last season
