Greensboro Generals News Release

With a 6-3 victory over the Trenton Titans in the Greensboro Coliseum, the Greensboro Generals set the mark for the best record in the four-year franchise history at 8-4-2. The game was highlighted by a hat trick from Ole Kjenstad and a 53-save performance from Jamie Hodson, as the Generals defeated the Titans for the second consecutive night.

The Generals previous best record was a 7-4-1 record in November 2000. This is the first time the Generals have ever been four games over the .500 mark. With the victory, Greensboro is now tied for second place in the northeast division, three points behind the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies.

Kjenstad's hat-trick marks the fourth time that a Generals player has accomplished such a feat this season. His first goal came 11:33 into the first period. In the second period, Kjenstad would score to increase the lead to 4-1 with the eventual game-winning goal. His third goal of the game would come six minutes into the third period. His goals were his first three goals of the season.

Other contributors to the Generals' triumph were Jay Murphy, who recorded a goal and two assists, Pete Gardiner with a goal and an assist, and Matt Turek got the ball rolling with the opening goal of the night. David Whitworth also contributed with three assists. Hodson's sensational effort earned his first victory of the season in goal. Hodson defended an onslaught of 27 shots in the third period to highlight the win.

The Generals next face the Charlotte Checkers in Charlotte tomorrow night at 7:35. The Generals return to the Greensboro Coliseum on Thursday, November 21 when they face the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, with a 7:00 start time. Thursday's contest is a "Thirsty Thursday" sponsored by R. H. Barringer, with all Anheuser-Busch drafts selling for just one dollar.
