Baton Rouge Kingfish News Release
The Kingfish continue to struggle against Tyrone Garner as the Jackson Bandits beat the Kingfish 2-1 in overtime. Garner, who shutout the Kingfish in his last outing, went over 100 minutes before giving up a third period goal to the Kingfish breaking his shout out streak.
Jackson opened the scoring at the 15:26 mark of the first period as Mike Vigilante punched a centering pass from Billy Newson behind Jeff Blair to give the Bandits a 1-0 lead. Brian Forslund also added an assist on the goal.
Baton Rouge was out shot in the first period 16-4, the fewest shots taken by the Kingfish in a period this season.
Steve Cheredaryk evened the contest at 1-1 just 5:36 into the third period. Cheredaryk picked up the loose puck along the right circle and took the puck back to the high slot and fired a shot past Tyrone Garner for the unassisted power play goal.
