
Bombers Top Nailers, 6-3

Six different players scored goals as the Dayton Bombers Professional Hockey Team used a four-goal third period to outlast the Wheeling Nailers 6-3 at the Ervin J. Nutter Center Friday night. The Bombers are 5-1-2 in their last eight games.
With the score tied at two entering the third period, the Bombers took the lead for good at 3:49 when Andrew Williamson, who finished with three points (1-2-3), received a pass from Jamie Ling, then sent a back-hander past goalie David Chant for a power play goal. At 8:48, Mike Renzi made it 4-2 when he converted a rebound off a Ling shot after the Nailers coughed up the puck in their defensive zone. Fred Slukynsky's charge to the net led to his second goal in as many games at 11:43. Then Chris M. Thompson completed the four-goal spurt at 15:03 when he one-timed Williamson's centering pass past Chant for a power play conversion.
Ben Knopp (first professional goal) and Andrew Ianiero also scored goals for the Bombers. Brian Cummings, Chris McNamara, and T.J. Reynolds tallied for Wheeling. The Bombers outshot the Nailers in the game 52-23, including a 26-6 mark in the decisive third period.
The Bombers will continue their season-long, six-game homestand Saturday night at the Ervin J. Nutter Center against thefirst-place Toledo Storm (7:30 p.m.). 1000 T-Shirts will be given away, courtesy of Ohio Lottery and LA Sports Apparel. The Bombers are 1-1 against the first-place Storm this season, falling at the Toledo Sports Arena 4-1 on October 19, then blanking Toledo 6-0 at the Ervin J. Nutter Center on Sunday, October 27. The Bombers play the Storm a total of ten times this regular season. Another home game against Toledo is scheduled for later this month (11/30).
