Grizzlies Rally; Fall In Shootout 4-3

West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (10-9-0-2) rallied to tie the game in the third period but fell 4-3 in a shootout to the Phoenix RoadRunners Monday night at the E-Center. Utah is unbeaten in eight of their last nine games and in four-straight games overall.

After outshooting Phoenix 10-1 early in the first period, the RoadRunners rallied late in the frame to lead Utah 2-0 after 20 minutes.

Utah made the game 2-1 at 12:23 of the second period with Justin Bourne scoring and Jason Pitton and Chris Gaudet picking up assists.

Phoenix made it 3-1 at 14:47 of the second period on a power-play goal but Utah tied it 17 seconds later as Ian Forbes blasted a shot from the point. Bourne and Gaudet picked up assists.

3-2 going into the third, Justin Bourne and Sean Offers setup Jason Pitton for a game-tying power-play goal.

After a scoreless overtime, Phoenix won the game in a sudden-death shootout with Jeff Kyrzakos getting a goal in round-six.

Utah outshot Phoenix 49-35 in the game.

Mike Mole (8-4-0-2) stopped 32 of 35 shots in the game.

The Grizzlies return to the E-Center tomorrow hosting Phoenix. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
