Smolenak reassigned to Norfolk

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Tuesday that forward Radek Smolenak has been reassigned by the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Smolenak, a 6-3, 180-pound forward from Prague, Czech Republic, has appeared in 19 games with the Sea Wolves this season and has seven goals and eight assists. His 15 points are tied for the team lead and his three power play goals are second on the club. He also appeared in two games with the Admirals to start the season, going scoreless with two penalty minutes.

The 21-year-old Smolenak was a third-round draft pick (73rd overall) of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He made his professional debut last season with the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL) and Springfield Falcons (AHL). In 22 career AHL games, Smolenak has one assist and ten penalty minutes. In 62 career ECHL games, he has 22 goals and 28 assists with 49 penalty minutes.

Smolenak played two seasons with Kingston of the OHL. In 132 games, he notched 74 goals and 70 assists for 144 points. He led the Frontenacs and was tied for 11 th in the OHL with 42 goals in 2005-06.
