Pensacola Ice Pilots News Release
PENSACOLA, FL - The Ice Pilots head back out on the road this week to take on the first place Texas Wildcatters. Pensacola held leads in both games against the South Carolina Stingrays this past weekend at the Hangar only to come up short, earning a point in the overtime loss Friday night. The Ice Pilots finished the week at 0-2-1. Luke Erickson leads the Pilots in scoring with 12 points (5g-7a). Mike Sgroi is catching up as he is averaging over a point per game with 11 points (5g-6a) in 9 games. Goaltender Mike Brodeur has a save percentage of 0.900.

Friday, Dec. 7 (7:30p.m.), Saturday, Dec. 8 (7:05 p.m.) and Sunday, Dec. 9 at Texas (4:05 p.m.)
The Ice Pilots head to Beaumont, Texas to take on the first place Texas Wildcatters. The Pilots battled the Wildcatters hard in the last two meetings, losing both by a goal in Pensacola. The Wildcatters hold a record of 14-2-4 and are unbeaten in their last eight games (5-0-3). Forward John McNabb is tied for second in the league in scoring with 26 points (11g-15a) through 20 games. Goaltenders Anton Khudobin and Peter Aubry are one of the best tandems in the league with Khudobin holding down a 1.70 GAA. He is currently called up to the AHL.

Player Notes
Defenseman Steve Marr has returned from AHL affiliate Rockford after a six game stint. He will wear the C for the captaincy as Daniel Sullivan is out of the lineup due to injury.
Last week's Games
Tuesday vs. Augusta (9-1 Loss)
John Laliberte and Aaron Slattengren scored four goals each en route to a 9-1 win for the Augusta Lynx at the Pensacola Civic Center. Augusta scored three goals in each period and took control of the game just 5:06 into the first period as Laliberte, Slattengren and Ryan Dingle found the back of the net. Konstantin Kalmikov scored the lone goal for the Ice Pilots with a nice feed from Chris Straube at 17:48 of the first period to cut the lead to 3-1. However Laliberte and Slattengren each scored three times in the final two periods to send Augusta home with the victory. John Daigneau replaced starting goaltender Mike Brodeur at the beginning of the third period.
Friday vs. South Carolina (3-2 OT Loss)
Mike Sgroi tied the game late in the third period to force overtime, but TJ McElroy scored the game winning goal on the power play at 1:43 of the extra session to give the South Carolina Stingrays a 3-2 win at the Pensacola Civic Center. The Ice Pilots tied the game with just 3:23 left on a goal that was deflected off of Sgroi's stick. South Carolina took their first lead of the game 42 seconds into the third period as Andrew Gordon beat Mike Brodeur on the right wing side to make it a 2-1 game. The Ice Pilots scored the game's first goal as Chris Straube beat Davis Parley with a shot from the high slot but South Carolina responded 23 seconds later to even the game at one. For the second consecutive game, the Ice Pilots had just one power play opportunity.
Saturday vs. South Carolina (5-2 Loss)
South Carolina scored four unanswered goals to defeat the Ice Pilots 5-2 at the Pensacola Civic Center. The Pilots held two leads until midway through the second period when the Stingrays scored a shorthanded goal which began the comeback for South Carolina. Mike Sgroi scored both Ice Pilots goals, the first came at 6:49 of the first period to put the Pilots up 1-0. Stephen Werner tied things up at one at 6:46 of the second. Then, Sgroi netted his second of the night and fifth of the season at 8:34 of the second period on the power play to put the Ice Pilots ahead 2-1. Andrew Gordon scored a shorthanded goal which changed the complexion of the game and Paul McIlveen, Steve Pinizzotto and Matt Scherer finished the scoring for South Carolina. Pensacola out shot South Carolina 35-27.
