
Checkers Receive Three Players

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers have been assigned three players from the Hartford Wolf Pack roster today. Goaltender, Matt Zaba has been reassigned to Charlotte by the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League and defenseman, Ryan Constant and forward, Mark Lee were reassigned by the Wolf Pack.
Zaba, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, signed with the New York Rangers during this year's off-season. The Yorkton, Saskatoon goaltender started the year with the Checkers and has played in four games compiling a record of 3-1 keeping a 3.51 goals against average with a .891 save percentage. He has been recalled to Hartford twice this season, but has yet to play in a game.
Constant, 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, played in 65 games with the Checkers last season and five with the Wolf Pack. This season, the Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba born defenseman played in four games scoring one goal and one assist for two points with six minutes in penalties before being called up to Hartford where he totaled one goal and zero assists with four penalty minutes in seven games.
Lee, the Mount Pearl, Newfoundland native started the year with the Wolf Pack. The 5-foot-11, 187 pound forward suited up in five games and registered one assist during that time. After being loaned to the Checkers, Lee accumulated five points (2g, 3a) in two games. In ten total games with the Wolf Pack this year, the forward has totaled zero goals and two assists.
Also, general manager and head coach of the Charlotte Checkers, Derek Wilkinson, announced that the team has released goaltender, Len DiCostanzo.
The Checkers began their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Dec. 7 against the Johnstown Chiefs. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
