Dayton Bombers News Release

BOMBERS NOTES

NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER: Bombers center Yannick Tifu and rookie forward Matt Beaudoin had stellar performances during the month of November. Tifu, who did not record a point in either of the two Bombers games in October, opened the month with a two goal performance against the Johnstown Chiefs on November 2. The very next night Tifu picked up five assists during Chanse Fitzpatrick's record game versus Trenton. In total, Tifu tallied 4 goals and an ECHL leading 23 assists in November for a league leading 27 points (Tifu currently sits with 29 points). Rookie Matt Beaudoin tallied 10 goals and 11 assists in November, bringing his season total to 24 points (11g, 13a). Beaudoin's 21 points in November were the most among rookies in the league. Five of his ten goals came on the power play and two goals were game winners. Beaudoin also opened the month on a six game point streak that ended on November 7.

READING RECAP: The Bombers and Reading Royals faced off in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday. Dayton took Friday's game 3-1 with goals from Ryan Reid, Matt Beaudoin and Peter Flache. Extra time (although not much) was needed for the Royals to steal a 5-4 overtime victory from the Bombers. Netting goals for the home team were Grant Goeckner-Zoeller, Yannick Tifu and Masahito Nishiwaki. Goalie Rejean Beauchemin back stopped both games for Dayton, stopping a combined 80 of 86 shots faced

NEW TEAM IN TOWN: The Elmira Jackals, the newest addition to the ECHL and North Division, made their first visit to the EJ Nutter Center on Tuesday, November 27 and took away a 3-2 shootout victory. The game marked the return of former Bombers goaltender Dan LaCosta and defenseman Trevor Hendrikx. Chris Eade got the Bombers offense going in the first period and Ryan Smyth forced extra time with his third period goal from Peter Flache and Britt Dougherty. Three of five Bombers scored during the shootout, but the Jackals managed four of five shots to earn the win.

GOING THE EXTRA MILE: The Bombers have not dropped a game in regulation since November 21 when they fell to the Wheeling Nailers on the road. In the five games since then, Dayton has earned 8 of 10 possible points, moving into 4th place in the North Division.

A WEEK OF FIRSTS: This week was full of firsts for the Bombers. Tuesday night was the first shootout at home on the season. On Friday defenseman Ryan Reid scored his first goal (and recorded his first point) of the season. Later in the game center Peter Flache netted his first goal of the season. Saturday night brought Bombers forward Grant Goeckner-Zoeller his first goal of the season, a short-handed goal at that. Yannick Tifu took the Bombers first penalty shot of the season at 8:39 of the second period.

BEARS AND JERSEYS FOR CHARITY: Saturday was the Bombers annual Teddy Bear Toss, benefitting local Miami Valley children's organizations including Dayton Children's Medical Center. After Grant Goeckner-Zoeller's first period goal the fur went flying as hundreds of bears and other stuffed animals littered the ice from the stands. Following the game the Bombers blue jerseys were auctioned off, raising more than $6,500 for the Dayton Bombers Charitable Foundation. Center Peter Flache's sweater set the high mark with a winning bid of $775.

FIRING SQUAD: Goaltender Rejean Beauchemin faced a season high 51 shots from the Reading Royals on Saturday night. Beauchemin turned away 46 of those shots. He currently ranks 4th in the ECHL with 364 saves on the season.

TERRIFIC TIFU: Center Yannick Tifu is on a nine game points streak dating back to November 16, the second longest active streak in the ECHL. In that time he has recorded 15 points (3G, 12A). Tifu had an eight game assist streak in that span, broken up after his two goal performance on Saturday. His assist streak is the longest in the league.

MILE MARKERS: Many Bombers have reached career milestones this season. Goaltender Rejean Bauchemin backstopped his 50th career game November 21 against Wheeling. Defenseman Taylor Christie has surpassed the 150 career games played mark. Peter Flache has crossed the 200 career PIM mark. Center Yannick Tifu passed the 100 career points mark on November 7 against Augusta when he tallied three assists. Captain Greg Labenski reached the 100 career assists mark on November 10 against the Trenton Devils.
