Biloxi, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves lost to the Augusta Lynx at James Brown Arena in Augusta on Friday 3-2 and defeated the Charlotte Checkers by a score of 3-2 on Saturday evening at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.

THIS WEEK:

The Sea Wolves make their first appearance of the 2007-08 season at the Carolina Coliseum to face off against the Columbia Inferno on Friday before heading back to Augusta to face the Lynx on Saturday evening.

The Augusta Lynx defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves by a score of 3-2 at the James Brown Arena in Augusta, Georgia on Friday evening.

Augusta got on the board late in the first period when Matt Auffrey's centering pass deflected off the stick of Mississippi's Mike Hartwick and into the Sea Wolves' net at 16:41. The Lynx would add a power-play goal from Nick Toneys at 19:48 of the first frame when Toneys's shot from the point beat Sea Wolves goaltender Morgan Cey through traffic.

The Sea Wolves would get on the board at 8:11 of the second period when Stan Lascek scored with a wrist shot high to the glove side of Augusta's J.P. Levasseur. Augusta's Ryan Dingle restored the two-goal lead for the Lynx at 13:26, but Travis Lisabeth drew the Sea Wolves back within one, beating Levasseur with a wrist shot through the five-hole at 13:47.

Despite several chances in the last minute with the goaltender Cey on the bench in favor of an extra attacker, the Sea Wolves were unable to tie the score.

Mississippi was 0-for-4 on the man advantage, and Morgan Cey made 36 saves earning the loss.

Saturday, December 1 @ Charlotte, 3-2 W

The Mississippi Sea Wolves defeat the Charlotte Checkers by the score of 3-2 at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena on Saturday evening for their first road win of the 2007-08 season.

Charlotte's Blake Bellefeuille got the Checkers on the board with the first of his two goals of the evening coming off a one-time feed from Patrick Bordeleau at 11:16 of the second period. The Sea Wolves would answer back 1:58 later when Ryan Menei banged the rebound of a shot from Mark Rooneem past Charlotte goaltender Curtis Darling at 13:14 of the second. Gio Flamminio would give Mississippi a 2-1 lead on the power play when his blast from the right point beat Darling through traffic at 14:33 of the second. Bellefeuille would draw Charlotte even at 19:11 when he picked up the rebound of Chris Capraro's shot.

Radek Smolenak scored the third period's only goal, taking a pass from Kyle McAllister and beating Darling high to the glove side for the game-winner at 9:08 of the third period.

Mississippi was 1-for-3 on the man advantage, and Ryan Munce made 26 saves on 28 shots to earn the win.
