Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the 3rd Annual Teddy Bear that took place last Friday saw a total of 1,944 stuffed animals landing on the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre ice.

Chris St. Jacques scored the Salmon Kings first goal 1:47 into the first period, and the fur began to fly as many of the season high 5,810 fans in attendance threw the stuffed animals they had brought for charity.

Members of the Salmon Kings will join Marty the Marmot to deliver the stuffed animals around the capital region. Tomorrow, a selection of players will visit the Victoria General Hospital's Pediatric Ward as well as will visit with children attending the G.R. Pearkes Day Care at the Queen Alexandra Children's Foundation. The team members will hand out animals and sign autographs at both locations.

The majority of the bears will be donated on behalf of the Victoria Salmon Kings to the C-FAX 1070 Santas Anonymous Fund, "Helping Children and families in need... no matter what the need."

The Salmon Kings play on Thursday and Friday nights in the desert versus the Phoenix Roadrunners. They return to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on December 19th when last year's playoff opponent the Alaska Aces come to town for three games before Christmas. Call 220-7889 for tickets.
