Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies were shut out for the first time at home this season as they lost to the Las Vegas 51s 8-0 on Monday at Chukchansi Park. The defeat was the Grizzlies' fourth straight, matching their season-high.

Las Vegas starting pitcher Carlos Torres tossed a complete game shutout, limiting the Grizzlies to three hits. The 51s right-hander struck out 11 and did not walk a batter.

Chris Dominguez was the only Grizzlies hitter to advance past second base when hit a two-out triple in the second inning. He was stranded, however, at third. He also added a single in the fifth inning to register two of Fresno's three hits.

The shutout loss at home was the Grizzlies' first since July 6, 2012 against Sacramento. It was the second time Fresno has been shut out in the last four days and third time this season.

Grizzlies starting pitcher Mike Kickham, in his first start with Fresno since making his Major League debut, allowed five runs over seven innings. The left-hander allowed a two-run double by Francisco Pena in the second and a three-run homer to Eric Campbell in the sixth.

The 51s added three more runs in the eighth off Fresno reliever Mason Tobin. Tobin allowed the first five batters he faced to reach base, four of which were via singles. Brandon Hicks and Pena had RBI singles while Kirk Nieuwenhuis drew a bases loaded walk to drive in the third run of the frame and chase Tobin from the game.

Pena and Campbell each had a game-high three RBI. Campbell went 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Jackson Williams had an infield single in the eighth for Fresno's third hit.

Steve Edlefsen did not allow a run in 1 1/3 innings. The right-hander inherited Tobin's bases loaded situation, but induced a groundout down the first base line to end the eighth inning.

Fresno looks to snap their losing streak in the series finale on Tuesday at 12:05 pm. Right-hander Boof Bonser will start for the Grizzlies and face Las Vegas righty Chris Schwinden.
