Maybin's Blast Keeps Padres on a Roll

Cameron Maybin's tenth-inning home run extended the Padres winning streak to five games, as Tucson defeated the Reno Aces 5-4 Tuesday at Aces Ballpark. The Padres improved their extra-inning record to 4-1 on the season and remain tied for first place in the Southern Division with Sacramento. The win completed the Padres second sweep of the season.

Cody Decker's two-out RBI single in the top of the first gave the Padres an early 1-0 advantage. Dean Anna extended the lead to two runs with an RBI single up the middle in the fourth. The Aces tied the game at two in the bottom of the fifth with the help of Tony Campana's RBI single to center.

The Padres responded in the sixth with a run on Daniel Robertson's RBI single to go ahead, 3-2. After Mike Wilson hit a two-out triple in the top of the seventh, Gregorio Petit brought him around to score on a single to right. Taylor Harbin knotted up the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run triple, helping send the game to extra innings. Maybin's third home run with Tucson off the batters' eye in center field put the Padres ahead for good.

Jorge Reyes earned the win for Tucson, improving his season record to 4-1, while Reno's reliever Evan Marshall fell to 1-5 with the loss. Miles Mikolas recorded his tenth save, putting him in a tie for sixth place in the Pacific Coast League. The Padres do not play Wednesday.
